Sizing & Silhouette Guide
A: To reduce waste and honour sustainable production, our ready-to-wear pieces do not follow rigid, standard sizing. Instead, we design with universal, gender-functional principles:
- Ō (Free Size): Featured primarily in our Kokyu line, these pieces offer expansive adaptability.
- Ichi (一), Ni (二), San (三): An adjustable size series featured in our Nitai and a few limited-edition pieces, allowing you to choose how oversized or relaxed you want the silhouette to feel. Our Rakupieces feature regular, relaxed, or oversized fits with little to no adaptability.
For your convenience, we have mapped our non-conventional sizes to Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS)and US Letter sizing on each product page. If you ever need guidance, please reach out via our here or email us at support@slooplife.com
A: Our adjustable sizing system is designed to offer effortless flexibility across diverse body types. Thesegarments are cut to be intentionally adaptable, allowing you to fluidly style them for either a relaxed, airydrape or a more structured look.If you find yourself right between sizes (for example, a true size Small who occasionally wears Medium):
- Choosing Ichi (一) will offer a slightly more tailored, closer fit.
- Choosing Ni (二) will give you a more relaxed, signature flowy silhouette.
Because these styles can be cinched, tied, or adjusted, we generally recommend sizing up if you prefercomfortable ease.
A: Our “Ō” Free Size is utilized for specialized garments like our Pleated Maku Belt and Kokyu products. These pieces feature flexible waist adjustments ranging from 26-42 inches, covering International XS to XXL (Japan sizes 1 to 5++). Because these designs incorporate functional belts and straps, they can be securely cinched down to a 24-inch waist, comfortably accommodating an International XXS (Japan size 0)as well.
A: Every product page features a “Size Guide” tab directly below the sizing options. This provides exact garment measurements (chest width, length, and sleeve) across Straight (Masculine) and Curved(Feminine) body archetypes. We highly recommend measuring a favourite, well-fitting garment from your own wardrobe and comparing it to our chart to visualize exactly how the SLOOP piece will sit on your frame.
A: Because our silhouettes are naturally relaxed and airy, choosing a size depends on your personal style preference:
- For a more tailored, structured look: If you sit right on the edge of a size bracket (for example, a true size Small who sometimes wears Medium), choosing Ichi 一 will give you a slightly fitted look, while Ni 二will give you that relaxed flowy look.

Care
A: Because our textiles are crafted from artisanal handloom materials and finished with sustainable dyes, they require gentle care. High-speed machine washing, tumble drying, bleach, and harsh detergents should be avoided. Detailed, individual care instructions are located under the “Care” tab on every product page.

A: While all of our fabrics undergo a thorough pre-washing process before tailoring, deeply saturated or vibrant artisanal dyes may naturally bleed during the first one or two washes. We strongly recommend washing your garment separately for its initial cleanses.
A: To extend the life of your garment, we recommend the following routine:
- Wash: Hand wash or machine wash on a cold, gentle cycle using a mild liquid detergent.
- Dry: Do not tumble dry. Line dry in the shade or lay the garment flat to retain its shape away from direct sunlight.
- Iron: We appreciate the organic beauty of natural textile crinkles. However, if you prefer a crisper finish, steaming is highly recommended. Alternatively, iron inside-out on a low-to-medium setting while the fabric is still slightly damp to prevent any surface sheen.
- Professional Care: Dry cleaning is always recommended to best preserve artisanal textures.
A: No, your SLOOP garments will not shrink. Prior to cutting and stitching, our textiles undergo rigorous pre-dyeing and pre-washing processes. This completely pre-shrinks the fabric, ensuring the fit you buy is the fit that stays.
A: We think the natural crinkles on the fabric are beautiful. However, if you prefer a crisper finish,
- Steaming is recommended
- Iron on a low-to-medium setting while the garment is still slightly damp. Always iron inside out to prevent any fabric sheen.

A: We design SLOOP pieces to be integrated into daily life, so hand washing isn’t strictly mandatory. You can safely use a washing machine on a cold, gentle cycle with mild detergent. However, you must avoid heat: keep them entirely out of the dryer and let them air-dry in the shade to maintain their tailored structure.
A: We do not offer a repair service at this moment. However, we are preparing to launch an officialcircular repair program in the near future to help extend the life of your heirloom SLOOP pieces. Please signup to receive updates on this launch.
Storage
A: Our natural handloom textiles are highly breathable, organically absorbing and releasing moisture according to your environment. Please do not store them in compressed plastic vacuum bags or synthetic covers, which trap moisture and cause mildew. Instead, store them in a cool, dry place inside the breathable muslin bag provided with your purchase
Payment
A: No, we currently don’t accept any local payment methods. Payment needs to be made during the time of checkout.
A: We accept a wide range of global payment methods at checkout, including:
- Credit/Debit Cards: Visa, Mastercard, Amex, and Rupay.

Shipping And Orders

- Select “Shop” and choose your desired category.
- Select your item, review its specific “Size Guide”, and select your size.
- Click “Add to Cart” or “Buy It Now.”
- Complete your details through our secure payment gateway.
- Once processed, you will receive an automated order confirmation email.
A: Due to the limited, artisanal nature of our productions, we currently do not accept standard cancellations or exchanges. We accept returns or exchanges “only” in the case of an initial defect, which includes:
- Manufacturing or structural defects.
- An incorrect item was delivered. Clear discrepancies from specified product measurements. If you experience any of the issues above, please ensure the “safety ribbon and seal remain entirely intact”.We cannot process a return or exchange if any accessories are missing, altered, or tampered with.
A: Exchanges and cancellations are currently not accepted.
A: To minimize our carbon footprint, we operate on a consolidated, once-a-week international shipping schedule. All global orders are bundled and dispatched together. Depending on when your order is placed, it will leave our hub within 1 to 7 business days.
A. The moment your package leaves our hub, an automated shipping completion email containing your tracking link will be sent to your registered email address.
Deliveries
A. Because we ship internationally, packages that surpass their local holding period or are refused cannot be automatically resent. To arrange a redelivery, the following conditions apply:
- Verification: We require written confirmation via support@slooplife.com verifying your delivery address, a valid phone number, and a statement confirming you will accept the next delivery attempt.
- Fees: International carriers charge penalties, return freight fees, and outstanding import duties when a package is abandoned or sent back. The customer is responsible for covering these accumulated carrier fees, along with the cost of the new shipping label, before we can dispatch the package a second time.
- If the package has been completely abandoned or destroyed by customs, A replacement cannot be issued from the original shipment. A fresh order will need to be placed on our website. In this scenario, it will be processed entirely as a new transaction, and you will not be held responsible for any penalties or carrier fees associated with the previous, failed package.
A. Because we ship internationally, packages that pass their holding period or are refused on the first attempt cannot automatically be resent. To process a redelivery, please note the following conditions:
Confirmation & Details: We require written confirmation from you stating that you will accept the package on the next attempt, along with a verified delivery address and a valid phone number.
Return & Duty Fees: International carriers charge penalties, return shipping fees, or outstanding import duties when a package is abandoned or sent back. The customer is responsible for covering these accumulated fees and the cost of the new shipping label before we can dispatch the package a second time. If you need to arrange a redelivery, please contact us immediately at support@sloop.com with your order number and updated details.
A: Your options depend entirely on the real-time status of your package:
- If it is still with the local courier, Most international carriers will hold the package for a brief window or attempt a second delivery. Please check your tracking link immediately to reschedule a delivery or locate a local pick-up hub.
- If the courier holding period has passed, Unclaimed packages are either returned to our international hub or abandoned by customs. Please check your tracking link first, and contact us at support@sloop.com if the holding period has already passed.
A. Generally, orders are shipped within 2 to 4 days after they are approved. A shipping completion e-mail will be sent when your order is shipped. After you receive your shipping completion e-mail, it will take 10-14 business days to reach your destination.
A. Once your order is approved, it is prepared for dispatch within 2 to 4 days. After departing our hub in our weekly consolidated batch, standard international shipping generally takes 10 to 14 business days to arrive, depending on your destination.
